How To Sell On Facebook Marketplace – Complete Guide

What Is Facebook Marketplace? Facebook Marketplace is a literal marketplace. It's an open exchange, where you can post stuff for sale or buy new and used items off people within your local area. Or you can say Facebook Marketplace is a digital marketplace where users arrange to buy, sell and trade items with other people in their area. Facebook Marketplace allows users to search for items to buy, by browse for-sale items by category and or location.

Before you order items on Facebook Marketplace keep in mind that not everyone on Facebook uses their legal name or a legit profile picture, unlike on eBay and Amazon (which mostly deals with new products), Marketplace charges no listing fees or taxes. Amazon and eBay provide return policies, while Facebook Marketplace does not provide return policies.

Marketplace is available in the Facebook app and on desktops and tablets. Look for the icon at the bottom of the app on iOS or at the top of the app on Android. If you are using a web browser, you can find this Marketplace icon on the left side of the Facebook page. Remember people can only see the information you publicly share on Facebook.

You can choose the quantity you want and the shipping price. When you select the Checkout button, you'll be taken to a payment page where you'll enter your delivery address and credit card or PayPal information.

They may willing to negotiate if it means an earlier pick-up. That doesn't mean you can ask someone if they'll accept a price that's far less than what they asked for. “Don't be too aggressive when you're negotiating.
My success rate for selling items on Facebook Marketplace is about 70 percent and I recommend Facebook Marketplace to anyone that want to use it for marketing purpose.

How to use Facebook Marketplace
  • When you find something of interest, just click to message the seller and you can work it out from there
  • Certain items cannot be sold. Facebook maintains a list of items that are not allowed to be sold on Marketplace.
  • You must sell a physical item.
  • The description of the item must match the image.
  • Before-and-after pictures are prohibited.
  • You don't have to download another app or set up a new account. Reach thousands of people in your local community and find unique items for sale.
To see someone's ratings on Marketplace, go to their Marketplace profile and look for the Ratings as a Seller section. You can swipe left to see their Ratings as a Buyer. To see your own ratings, go to your Marketplace profile and look for the Ratings as a Seller and Ratings as a Buyer section.
Listings will be available for as long as the seller chooses — they can remove it at any time. After the first 7 days, if the item has not been sold yet, you can decide to renew your listing. It will provide more visibility to your product in Marketplace.

Many people have been banned from Marketplace for posting something that does not break the rules they have adhered to, but break the Commerce rules, such as services. However, even though they are banned just from Marketplace, Facebook still feeds their group posts to the venue

When a sold listing is "Under Review", it means the buyer's payment is being reviewed. There's nothing you can do, as a seller. Rest assured, Facebook Marketplace system and Support teams will take care of all verification. If the payment is approved, then the order will be released.
