PayPal: This Card Cannot Be Linked. Please Try A Different Payment Method.
I understand that this situation is frustrating especially when you need the PayPal urgently to receive money or to make payment but don’t worry you are not alone on this. The solution is very simple though.
- You have entered a different billing address for your PayPal account than the one on your card statement.
- Your card is linked to another PayPal account.
- Your credit card or your company card did not accept the $1.00 authorization sent by PayPal when you attempted to add the card.
- You linked your card to your PayPal account but entered the card security code (CSC) incorrectly three times.
First let me explain how the card linking process works before we dive into the real problem.
When you try to add the card to your PayPal account, the temporary transaction of 1$ is initiated, if you do not have enough money on the card (your bank account to which card you want to add to your PayPal) or you have your internet transactions option blocked (which very often is an automatic option for newly issued cards) that transaction will be declined by your bank and card won't be added to your PayPal account, you will also see that error message.
The solution here is very simple, if you have funds on the card, please contact your bank and request to speak with online transactions department and ask them what is stopping a temporary transaction for 1$. If you do not have enough money on your bank account (that is not equal to 1$) PayPal will keep on decline your card.
Solution here is to add money to your bank account then try linking your Credit Card once more - you shouldn't have any issues then.
I would like to explain that the temporary blockage of 1$ will never be taken from your card and it's only a hold to check if the card number is correct to use it for future transactions.
I hope this post helps. Please leave a comment below let me know if I am able to help solve the problem.
